With the start of spring, the MCC Fighting Scots Men's Tennis team is showing no 'love' to its opponents. The team started out weak, but is slowly progressing as the season moves along. With a 5-8 record, the team plans on slamming their way into May.

Coach Don Biere is optimistic, even with the team's slow start. Beginning with 0-3 record, it was not looking good for the Scots. However the things would turn around quickly for the team.

The team's first win came of Sauk Valley, with an overall score of 8-1. A notable win came from No. 2 singles Jeff Pierscionek, winning his sets with scores of 6-2, 6-0. No. 3 singles Todd Weidner did well winning overall with scores of 6-2, 2-6, 11-9. Leading the Scots in the doubles sweep were No. 1 doubles Mike Maretich and Jeff Pierscionek with scores of 7-5, 6-3.

Another victory came off Waubonsee Community College, with the team winning 6-3 overall. No. 1 singles player Mike Maretich won his match in three sets, while No. 2 singles player Jeff Pierscionek took his victory in a two-set match, 6-0, 6-0. No. 3 singles player Todd Weidner has garnered a victory, 6-3, 6-0.

Even when the team faced many losses, they could also count on Maretich and Pierscionek as the No.1 doubles partners. Although the team lost overall to Moraine Valley Community College and Elgin Community College, Pierscionek and Maretich were victorious with final scores of 6-4 ,7-5 at Moraine and 1-6, 6-1, 10-7 at Elgin. Both players have proven to be crucial to the team.

Going into May, the team has good potential. With only 6 players to contend with, injury could easily put an end to playoff hopes. Still, the team has shown steady improvement and hard work throughout the season, giving hope of seeing the Scots in Texas in the not-too-far future.
