The Sam's Club Café should be a definite staple for the cash strapped college student. Much like the store it calls home, the Café is full of great deals. For example, on a recent visit, I purchased four slices of cheese pizza, two 32 oz. pops, a ¼ lb. chocolate chip cookie, a four Berry Sundae, and a cinnamon and sugar soft pretzel (lay off me, I was starving!) all for the very reasonable price of $8.24.

However, I'm not sure I agree with the name "Café." When I think of a café, I think of cute little bistros, steaming cups of cappuccino, elevator music playing softly in the background - that sort of thing. Be aware that this is not what you'll get at the Sam's Club Café. I think it would more appropriately be called a "cafeteria." It reminds me of high school; the ladies behind the counter wear hairnets, none of the tables seem very clean, and it even sounds like high school because there are people everywhere frantically trying to get their shopping done. But other than disagreeing with their name, there isn't much to dislike about the Sam's Club Café.

The Sam's Club Café is a great choice for those days that your tummy is rumbling and your wallet's hurting. There are plenty of great options that are sure to fill you up. The best deal is probably a ¼ lb. Kosher or Polish hotdog and a soft drink for only $1.50. But their pizza comes in a close second. You can buy a whole pizza ($7.97) or get it by the slice ($1.88) and all varieties-cheese, deluxe, pepperoni, and sausage are all the same price. The pizzas can be bought already cooked or frozen so you can take them home and enjoy it in the privacy of your own home. Another great deal is the pizza slice and drink combo for the low, low, rate of $2.48. And though it says pizza slice, which implies one piece of pizza, you actually get two slices-what a deal! However, I found their pizza to be too soggy for my tastes. I recommend bringing it home and cooking it yourself for a crispier crust. If you aren't in the mood for pizza, try one of their delicious soft pretzels which come in three tasty varieties-plain, salt, or cinnamon and sugar ($0.94 each). Don't miss their more sophisticated selections, a delicious low-carb Chicken wrap ($2.88) and a Chicken Caesar Salad ($3.28) for those of you who want to indulge without going up a pant's size.
