In order to relive some stress in her life, Harriet attended Chang's Hapkido Martial Arts Academy where she became the first woman to earn the coveted Black Belt from that school. She taught police officers in martial arts, and became a police officer herself in 1988, serving in Oakwood Hills, Illinois, from 1988 to 1995. For the next five years she directed the Police Academy for Part-Time Officers. She is currently a police officer, Prairie Grove, Illinois, and the Director of Campus Safety and Security at McHenry County College.
Mrs. Johnson employs an 'open door' policy here, and welcomes anyone with personal and private as well as community issues to visit with her. She makes time for those in need, while leading a team which protects us within this campus environment. Harriet is indeed, 'my favorite cop', and we at MCC are fortunate and proud to have this talented, brave, law enforcer, within our faculty/staff family.
